It is hard to overstate the nationwide wave of awareness meeting legislative, judicial, and executive will.

Whether you’re a state or federal incarcerated criminal defendant, there is absolutely no excuse to ignore, to not act on your case whether you went to trial or took a plea. No matter how many times you’ve been denied postconviction relief in the past, it is still worth looking into.

Time bars? Jurisdiction problems? Counsel appointment? Sentencing statistical data? Affordable help? Sure, there are a few concerns for anyone. But these and whatever else might worry you are usually navigable, and almost always overcome with a little care and diligence.

Due to newly settled laws in most states and in the federal government, almost every defendant has a new chance for sentencing review – regardless of the past. In fact, we’ve seen that even definitions of “grave and serious” type crimes have been markedly modified in many jurisdictions. Crime of violence enhancers? Habitual offender enhancers? In most cases, ANYONE is eligible for review – for a fresh look.

The brave new world of postconviction innovation rests firmly with statutory and often constitutional remedies. Whatever you do, please don’t do nothing!

Conviction integrity units, conviction review units, special public defender proportionality portals, special needs and early release portals, clemency and parole boards, restorative justice power, enlightened judiciaries, experienced advocates and lawyers, and even prosecutors, are changing – growing – listening…

So please, think about your case. Think about your circumstances, your alleged offense(s), whatever it is you may or may not have done, does it deserve what you got? Think about your achievements while incarcerated. Think about your growth, change, and rehabilitation from the system’s perspective. Think about your parole plan if you succeed. Keep thinking about your future and don’t allow yourself to become stagnant.

In all of this, think about letting us help you. It doesn’t cost you any money or privacy to take a look. Look closer at our wins, our success stories. Talk to our clients, our legal alliances. There is likely no big hurry as most proportionality matters are intentionally not time-sensitive, but check your status just in case.

We all at Q|Nav wish you and your family, your loved ones the very best. We wish you Godspeed in obtaining liberty and freedom.
